This painting utilizes a complex, fractal-like self-referencing system. Each building block of the composition is a “map” of the larger composition. The painting is organized using a 2x3 binary grid system. Each permutation of the 2x3 binary code is represented and organized into larger 2x3 “families”. In fact, there are four levels of the 2x3 ordering system embedded within this work.
