Gold, silver, and copper dots were combined to form every permutation of a 3x5 matrix on top of a handmade graphite grid. Each color within the cluster is connected to the same color in the adjacent clusters with a meandering ink line. The 32,768 unique clusters are arranged to form a gradient of density starting at the lower right corner and culminating to total emptiness in the upper left corner. Information is omitted in the form of two large rectangles placed at different orientations. The entire pattern is placed off-center within the synthetic field of polypropylene paper that hangs away from the wall. Additionally, topography is introduced to the composition by the crumpling of the paper. The density of the crumpling mimics the density of the gradient.
